Brethren,
We will be electing a new line of officers this month, at our attend meeting. If you have not joined us this year, this is a great meeting to do it. Please come cast your vote for the future of the Lodge.
In my short time as Master of this Lodge, I have learned a great deal. I have learned about Masonry, public relations, dealing with conflict, success and failure. I have had the opportunity to meet wonderful people. I have learned to deal with losing some wonderful people to the Celestial Lodge. More than anything, I have learned about myself and how I can improve myself as a man. I absolutely would not understand myself and how I need to mold myself to be an even better citizen, husband, father, son, and brother.
What makes a Mason? Memorizing ritual? No. I have known plenty of Masons who can recite ritual, but don't follow the teachings or obligations. Attendance in Lodge? No, I know Masons that have never missed a meeting. Community service? Again, no. What makes a Mason? Living up to your obligations, following the tenets of your profession, and being that good husband, father, son, brother. Take time for a friend, call someone you haven't seen in a while, you get the picture. I have always been told by my parents that the character of a man is not how he acts when things are going his way, but how he acts when he is down and out. Not what he does when everybody is watching, but what he does when no one is watching.
I will soon be stepping out of the East. I am very glad that I have had the opportunity to learn so much about myself, and grateful that I still have time to transform myself into that perfect ashlar.
